Affluent Shoppers Helping to Bring an End to Recession
A financial turnaround for the U.S. economy may be around the corner as affluent shoppers, who make up one in five American households, have increased their spending on luxury items by nearly 30 percent, according to Unity Marketing Research. To meet this demand, Washington-based designer Tracy Morris is launching the "TMD Design Over Time(TM)" option helping clients extend the life and value of their design purchase.
The refresh plan gives people a way to strategically add design elements, even after a project is complete. Unity research also found wealthier consumers are selective, increasingly spending their discretionary income on items that hold value longer such as furniture, floor coverings, and high-end fabrics.
"Often times TMD design consultants will makeover a room for a client and within a couple of years they call me saying they are ready for a new look, or discovered a new color they would like to somehow incorporate," said Tracy Morris, president and founder of Tracy Morris Design. "The maintenance plan gives the client flexibility as their taste changes. Problem solved," said Tracy Morris.
